「英単語テスト」だけでは広すぎる

まず中学生向けの英単語テスト５つ、”Five questions to help junior high school students in Japan learn English words”と指示した結果がこちら。

２、５番は答えがすべて当てはまり、１番は答えが１つも当てはまりません。唯一答えられるのは３番ですが、どちらかというとcapitalを答えさせたいところです。残念ながらこれらは問題としては使えなそうです。もう少し問題の指示を具体的にする必要があります。

「選択肢のある」をつけると◎

「英単語テスト」だけの指示だと空欄補充問題が出てきてしまったので、今度は「選択肢のある( multiple-choice )」の指示を追加しました。”Five multiple-choice questions to help junior high school students in Japan learn English words”の結果がこちら。

今回はきちんと問題をつくることができました！ただ１番の小さい甘い果物がオレンジなのか微妙なのでこの問題は変えた方がいいですね。問題レベルもいい感じですが、”trunk（象の鼻）”や”satellite（衛星）”、”orbit（回る）”は中学生では習わないので少し変える必要があります。

ちなみに高校生向けに変えて同じ質問をするとこんな感じです。

大学受験で英語を使う人や英検２級以上あれば余裕の内容でしょうか。高校１、２年生には宿題で出す分には良いかもしれません。

答えの選択肢が似てしまうので、他にも作ってばらけさせる必要がありますが、選択肢を作る手間を省くことができます。答えを指定すること、日本語を英語にするテストにすることでレベルのばらつきがなく、習っていない英単語を使うことなくテストを作ることができて良かったです。

テーマを指定した英単語テスト

テーマを指定することで、試験の種類に対応した英単語テストをつくることができました。今回は学校に関する英単語テストを作ってみました。”Five multiple-choice questions to help junior high school students in Japan learn English words related to the school“と指示してみました。
